Wesley Vowell and the Diamond Twins
— Winona and Ramona Diamond — have been singing
country music since they were kids growing up in Waco, Texas.
Wesley married Winona in the mid-1960s. They still live in Waco
and they still perform country and country gospel music.
Brother Gene Vowell also grew up in Waco,
then moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in the late 1960s, where
writes, performs, and produces country music. Gene and the late
A. L. Doodle Owens (also from Waco) wrote all of the songs on
the Best of the West CD. In 1999 Doodle was inducted into the
Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Most of the music offered here is a cross
between Texas and Tennessee, but it appeals to a whole country
… and to the whole world.
